How to use DURATEARS® Eye Ointment

Remove cap from tube. Gently pull lower eyelid down.
Squeeze a ribbon of ointment (1-1.5 cm) into the lower portion of the eye.
Slowly close the eye without blinking.
Keep eye closed for 1 to 2 minutes.

How long can you use Maxitrol eye drops?

Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye. Do not use this medication more often than prescribed or for longer than 10 days unless directed by your doctor.

Do not reuse. SYSTANE® BALANCE – 6 months after opening. SYSTANE® Gel Drops – 3 months after opening.

When should you not use systane?

Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Do not use this medicine while wearing contact lenses. Systane may contain a preservative that can discolor soft contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before putting in your contact lenses.

This medication is used to treat conditions involving swelling (inflammation) of the eyes and to treat or prevent bacterial eye infections. This product contains neomycin and polymyxin, antibiotics that work by stopping the growth of bacteria.
