Does Osmo oil darken wood?

A clear oil such as Osmo Polyx Oil will maintain the natural appearance, but will darken the wood again, much like when you wipe water over bare wood, it will enhance and enrich the woods natural tones.

Is Osmo oil Hard wearing?

Osmo Polyx Oil provides a finish that is hard-wearing and extremely tough. It is water repellent and dirt resistant. The finish is impervious to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and water etc. when dry.

Is one coat of Osmo Oil enough?

For roller or brush applications; a maximum of two coats is recommended. Our finishes are designed to penetrate into the wood, application of a third coat is unlikely to absorb. For cloth applications; three or four coats is recommended.

How long does Osmo oil take to cure?

10-14 days
Polyx®-Oils and all other Osmo products have a curing time of approx. 10-14 days. During this time, we advise to keep floor traffic as low as possible and avoid covering the wood’s surface (e.g. with a rug or mat) which can block the circulation of air and the curing of the finish – potentially causing discolouration.

How long does Osmo take to cure?

8-10 hours
HOW LONG DOES THE SURFACE TAKE TO DRY? Osmo products dry within 8-10 hours (except Polyx®-Oil Rapid: 4-6 h). The surface dries by oxidation and absorption. Please ensure that there is sufficient ventilation for drying purposes.

Should you sand between coats of Osmo?

Sanding is not necessary between coats. However, de-nibbing with a pad may help to reduce any imperfections from the surface between each coat.

For high traffic areas in restaurants and shops, Osmo Maintenance Oil should be used every other month or more depending on the amount of use. The protective surface can be renewed when the floor starts to show signs of wear. This can be done at any time without needing to sand the old finish.

Can you apply Osmo oil with a cloth?

Cloth Application Apply thinly with a clean lint-free cloth onto a clean, dry and smooth surface. Work it in slight circular motions along the grain. Once you’ve wiped on a thin layer, use a dry cloth and wipe off in the direction of the grain to avoid streaks.

Do you need to buff Osmo oil?

When thoroughly dry, surface can be buffed or polished with hand polisher or buffing machine. The only difference in applying the Clear Extra Thin is to let it sit for 30 minutes before wiping away any excess.
