Do Bilstein shocks raise ride height?
Do Bilstein shocks raise ride height?
The Bilstein 5100 Ride Height Adjustable is a highly desirable upgrade for your truck that lets you raise your ride height if you want and and fit larger tires without buying a full lift kit. The Bilstein 5100 monotube piston shocks have an ultra-long, zinc-plated steel body that resists corrosion.
Will Bilstein 5100 lift my truck in the rear?
Yes. In many cases there is an option for a no lift setting on the struts and a 0″ lifted shock that will work with stock height trucks. The stock height shock will normally cover a 0″ (Stock Height) to 1″ lift.
Does a leveling kit affect suspension?
A front-end leveling kit will equalize the suspension, resulting in increased wind resistance and decreased fuel economy. This is especially true when hauling a heavy load. The additional weight will pull the rear down and lift the front higher, causing an aerodynamic drag.
Do you need to do an alignment after a leveling kit?
Yes, your 4×4 will need an alignment after the installation of a leveling kit. Some solid-axle 4x4s will also require caster adjustment for proper handling and road manners. Many leveling kits include the components to do this.
What size leveling kit should I get?
If you’re buying the front kit only, just purchase that height (we recommend rounding down if you’re in between heights). If you’re buying a full kit, you will have to do some more math to find out what you need. For example, if the rear minus the front was 2″, then you need a 2″ front kit to have your truck sit level.
Are Bilstein 5100s adjustable?
Bilstein 5100 (Ride Height Adjustable) shock absorbers are designed for trucks and SUV’s with a front OE coilover style suspension. Bilstein 5100 (Ride Height Adjustable) shock absorbers provide increased wheel travel and improved handling.
How long will Bilstein shocks last?
If you garage it most of the time and are mostly highway driving, no towing, and drive like a grandpa/grandma, then 100K seems quite reasonable. I have about 20K on my 5100s and they feel as good as when I installed them. I’d expect them to last at least 75K.
